Showcasing the Future of Sustainable Industry
Today marked a significant milestone for Shotton Mill Limited as we hosted key regional stakeholders to witness the transformation of our site into a world-leading manufacturing facility.
We were honoured to welcome David Fitzsimon, Chief Officer for Place and Growth at Flintshire County Council, and Councillor Chris Dolphin for their first tour of the project. The visit provided an opportunity to demonstrate the scale of the £1.4 billion investment currently being injected into the Deeside region.
Our partnership with Flintshire County Council is a cornerstone of our success. As we head toward our operational start-up, maintaining a supportive and transparent relationship with local leadership ensures that our growth translates into shared success for the entire community.
"It was a pleasure to showcase our vision of Advanced Manufacturing Excellence to David and Councillor Dolphin today. Seeing the physical scale of the new containerboard manufacturing operation helps tell the story of our ambition for North Wales." Said Dan Johnson, General Manager.
In tandem with our local government engagement, we also welcomed a technical delegation from Natural Resources Wales (NRW). The group conducted an extensive tour of the facility, focusing on our containerboard and energy generation facilities. This visit allowed our regulators to see the "Best Available Technology" (BAT) deployed on site.
At Shotton Mill, safe and responsible leadership is a core pillar. Collaborating closely with NRW allows us to demonstrate our commitment to the highest environmental standards now and in the future. By walking the site together, we ensure that our operational scale is matched by a transparent and robust approach to environmental protection.
"Our dialogue with Natural Resources Wales is vital. As we build one of the most technologically advanced integrated mills in the world, we are committed to setting new benchmarks for industrial sustainability. Today was about showing how we will turn that commitment into reality through engineering excellence and rigorous environmental management." – Dan Johnson, General Manager.
