Building the Future: Shotton Mill Limited Welcomes Medr for Strategic Collaboration
At Shotton Mill Limited, we believe that our multi-million-pound transformation is about more than just state-of-the-art machinery and sustainable paper production; it is about the people who will power the next generation of Welsh manufacturing. This vision was at the heart of our recent engagement with the team from Medr, whom we were delighted to host at our Deeside site.
The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to share the rich heritage and story of the site, the evolution of our parent company Eren Holding and demonstrate the sheer scale of the ambition driving the Mill’s redevelopment. However, the true value of the day lay in the deep-dive conversations regarding the regional landscape. Our teams explored the broader workforce requirements across the paper sector in North Wales and discussed how we can proactively meet those challenges through strategic alignment and partnership.
A central theme of the visit was our "grow-your-own" philosophy. We shared the various pathways we have developed for recruitment and staff development, emphasising that as the Mill grows, our people must have the opportunity to grow with it. By aligning our activities with regional priorities, we are not just building a factory, we are building a long-term career ecosystem for the community.
Ben Vaughan, Training Manager at Shotton Mill Limited, shared his thoughts on the importance of the visit:
"It was a privilege to host the Medr team and demonstrate how we are translating our ambitious plans into tangible opportunities for our workforce. At Shotton Mill Limited, we are deeply committed to creating clear, sustainable pathways for talent development. By working closely with partners like Medr, we can ensure that our recruitment and training strategies not only meet the needs of our business but also contribute significantly to the wider regional skills agenda and the long-term prosperity of the paper sector."
As we move forward, we remain focused on this spirit of collaboration. We are grateful for the insight and support provided by the Medr team and look forward to continuing our work together to ensure that Shotton Mill Limited remains a benchmark for innovation and professional development in the region.
